Sunday Afternoon

You've probably seen the pictures.  Incredibly bad things have happened from this Hurricane.  There are a lot of people feeling lost right now and I feel so sorry for them.

I have been one of the extremely lucky ones.  As I said before, gentle is the word I would use to describe the rain and the wind over my house.

I took a short drive yesterday afternoon.  Stupid I know but I just had to get out of the house.  There was a pizza joint and a subway open but all the other stores were closed.  I stopped for Subway thinking it may be the last fast food I get for a long, long time.

I wanted to drive down to the bayou and see how high it was.  I knew curiosity killed the cat so I made myself go back home.  The short outing did me some good.

What you have to realize about Houston is that you can drive for over an hour on the freeway on a Sunday afternoon just to travel from one side of Houston to another.  We are that spread out.  So while I sit high and dry, there are people in different parts of town with water to the roof.

So far none of my friends and family have serious flood issues although some live near enough that as the water channels through the bayous, it could still rise high enough to get them.

All I can say is that I am incredibly lucky and so very thankful and pray it continues that way.

Buddy has continued to run to the door the last two days.  He hears or knows something is out there as if it were a physical presence.

Oh and my credit card got hacked for $77 worth of Pappa John's Pizza.  Do you think someone was trying to have a Hurricane party on my dime?
