I'm at the New Apartment

I have (mostly) completed the move.  Still a few items to clean up at the old place but I am just too tired to do it right now.

If you remember, I agreed to apartment sharing with my daughter sight unseen.  I knew she had good taste and would find the best deal within our budget.  Turns out that it is a really big complex, especially if you are used to living in a small garage apartment with a yard and rarely see other folks except when walking your dog.

It is an older complex and I remember when it was hot stuff.  It is not a place I would have chosen but I like it just fine.  My daughter allowed me to take the larger bedroom since the Grand Girls will be sleeping with me on the pull-out mattress.

I threw away so much and there is still so much I have to get rid of.  The shelves in my walk-in closet are full and I still have a tub or two to unpack.

The dryer plug does not fit the electrical outlet so we are having that replaced.  It does have a washateria in each section so we are washing at home and drying downstains.

The apartment has miles of sidewalks so Buddy and my daughter's dog Chu are getting plenty of walks even though it is not around the block.  Buddy has learned to ride in an elevator - first for him.

My sleep schedule has changed again.  I am now going to bed at 9:30 pm and getting up around 3:00 am.  Not bad.  I can live with that but I am still napping during the day because the unpacking just wears me out.  Oh well.  I'm retired and I can do that if I want.

I joined the YMCA near me and they have all kinds of Silver Sneaker classes, etc.  It will be a while before I get there.  I think I am getting plenty of exercise on my own at the moment.

Just wanted you to know the deed is done.  I am in the new apartment and I'm enjoying it.

I also realized I am going to have to change my banner.  Not sure what it will be but you know when you make one change it often begets more changes.

I'll be back soon, new banner or not.

  1. Barbara, congrats on the move. I hope it is everything you want it to be. I love moving just for the purging effect. So I think I need to move. :-)

  2. Best wishes to you, Barbara, in your new home. It will take getting used to but it won't be long and you'll have everything unpacked and settled in.

  3. Glad this is turning out good for you and Buddy. I agree with Margaret about moving is good for purging.

  4. "Silver Sneakers" -- I like that name! And good for Buddy, learning to ride in an elevator!

  5. Moving is hard and the need to downsize makes it more so. I helped a friend move last September and now she announces she wants to move again. Argh.

  6. I have missed out on so much. I had no idea that you were moving. My blog reading is woefully behind for the past few months. I do hope you enjoy your new place. :)

  7. I'm glad you got moved.

I've been going down to my YMCA every Tuesday and Thursday for a Pilates class. I mostly chose that one because of the time and because I could take my niece and daughter with me as part of their home school. Word to the Wise......it's pretty hard for me. I didn't even know what it was until I went to the class. However, there are women in there 10 or 20 years older than me who are rock stars at it! My only goal is to not fall off my big ball during the middle of class! Oh, wait, I also don't want to break myself in half. My teacher is very patient and gives me easier exercises than the rest and that works for me! I really think my body would be more in tune with the Silver Sneaker crew, but that's not where I am right now in my life! Hopefully, it will get easier. So, whatever class you take, just remember--you can't be worse at it than I am at mine. At this point in life, I really don't care. I mean I wish I was more in shape, or more flexible, but like the teacher graciously put it when I commented on my inaptitude, "You need the class more than the people who can already do it." :)
