Cold Showers and Crafts

The hot water boiler has been out since last Friday.  Plenty of cold water.  I've been taking cold showers and they are AWFUL  I tried sink baths for the dirty parts but I don't feel clean enough.  I remember hearing somewhere that the prisoners at Alcatraz had only cold water for showers.  Now if you've been to San Francisco you know they have very nippy weather.  To me it is different than cold, it sinks into your bones.  Anyway, I've felt very sorry for them - and for me - having to take cold showers.

I did order supplies for a new craft project.  I put the wooden beaded necklace on hold until I could get some more information from someone who had actually dyed the beads.  Now I am going to try punch needle with embroidery floss.  It is easier to show you than explain it.  I have to get some fabric and an embroidery hoop next.  I did something similar many many years ago.  I'll post some pictures later on.

My son closed on his new house this week and will be moving this week/weekend.  I offered to keep the grand girls whenever he needed.  Of course, that was before I knew about the water.  Hahaha. We'll just go over to my daughters if they do come.  Since it is the long Memorial weekend, I am hoping they don't show up for the whole three days.  Hahaha.  Does that sound mean?  I love them but three days is a long time.

The Grand Son came over to visit last weekend.  I haven't seen much of him since he got an apartment with two friends.  However, I had some birthday clothes for him so he found the time!  I dearly loved my Grandmother but I remember when I didn't have time for her.  That's ok.  Like most kids, he'll come back around when he is settled.

  3. I thought of you yesterday as i was sitting in the waiting room at the eye doctor's. There was an attractive young woman waiting for her appointment who was wearing a necklace of colorful wooden beads.

  4. Three days of grandkids is a whole lot of time. You will need a couple of weeks to recover. Lol You're right. Grandchildren have their own lives and most of the time it doesn't include the old ones. But they know you love them and that is all that matters. Cold showers are only good when its 110 outside.

  5. At least if your daughter has hot water for the kids, it will rescue you also. I remember during hurricanes in Fl. I had a well so when we were out of power for days, I had to make a gallon of water do for bathing and tooth brushing. Amazing what we adjust to. Hope the water is hot again soon.

  6. oooh I'd rather stink than a cold shower. Or take a whore bath as my mom called them. :-)
I hope you get that repaired soon. At least it's not winter. That could be worse.
3 days of anyone is too much. I wish I had spent more time with my grandmother now. We get sense too late Barbara. Have a wonderful long weekend.

  8. My two granddaughters are 14 months apart in age. They are 12 and 13 now, and are much easier to host, but there were a few years where I much preferred to have them one at a time. Coincidentally, I am off to pick them up from school right this minute. Gotta run!

  10. Do you boomers realize how universally hated you are? There is not one single demographic that does not hate you- white people, black people, asians, mexicans, indians, chinese, millennials, GenX, GenZ. Something tells me that you boomers are not going to have a very comfortable or easy retirement, especially once you end up in the retirement homes.

Can you baby boomers hurry up and fucking drop dead? Enjoy your retirement homes cause we younger people will not take care of you even if we wanted to, due to the shitty economy you boomers created. Do you boomers realize that the younger generation is simply waiting for you to fucking drop dead?

You are all going to end up in retirement homes and we all know that the elderly gets treated pretty badly in retirement homes. Well, that's what you get for ruining your own children's lives. Even if your children WANTED to take care of you, they couldn't, due to you boomers destroying the economy. So I hope you enjoy the retirement homes, boomer scum!

  12. I much prefer a hot shower to a cool or even lukewarm one. But a few years ago we stayed at an Air B&B that had an outdoor shower and it was delightful. Cool but we were in Phoenix, Arizona so it was refreshing. Hope you are back to the showers you prefer very soon.

Anxious to see photos of the embroidery project you mentioned. My daughter just sent me something called diamond painting which sounds a little like what you are talking about but with tiny beads rather than floss.

  13. ****THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:****

Portugal is the Biggest Racist country that i have ever lived in. I feared for my life there and i consider myself lucky that my family got out alive! I have never lived in such poverty (Sopas dos Pobres everyday) 40% unemployment rate and 60% of the population earn less than $932 USD per month, and that's considered Middle Class here! Within the European Union it is the worst of the worst place to live.

The bottom line is the bulk of the People in our poor country exist in a brainless comma that is fed by Ignorance, anti-Spanish hate, and severe Racism of pretty much everybody that isn't Portuguese! And, Portugal started the Global Slave Trade in 1441 so it is definitely NOT a safe place for Blacks!!

I found important websites that explain the Severe multi-generational Racism and Hate that exist in Portugal today, and i highly encourage all to read them and spread the word in order to avoid innocent, and desperate people from living or visiting there. Get educated on the Truths about Racist Portugal now.

PORTUGAL IS THE BIGGEST, RACIST, ANTI-SPANISH COUNTRY ON THE PLANET!

I HEREBY ALERT ALL PEOPLE ON EARTH TO NOT BUY FROM PUTUGAL, DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD, EARNED MONEY GOING THERE AND BOYCOTT ALL PORTUGEE STORES IN YOUR AREA! DON'T BUY THEIR GOODS OR WINES!!!

THESE XENOPHOBIC RACISTS HAVE TO LEARN AND THE BEST WAY IS TO BLOCK THEM ECONOMICALLY!

    BE CAREFUL FRIENDS!
